Going Solo at the State Fair

It’s hard to believe, but for the first time ever I went to the North Carolina State Fair without you.  I discovered areas of the fair I had never been to before.  Without the wheelchair I was able to visit the forestry exhibit and the hillside gardens for the first time.  I’ve always wondered about that steam whistle we’d hear every year.  It came from the steam-powered sawmill in the foresty exhibit.  I sat there for hours mesmerized by the sawyer and the steam engine.  It was fun, but not nearly as fun as it would have been if you had been there with me.
